Lena Dunham’s Side-By-Side Comparison Pics Go Viral for Right Reason

Insert the praise hands emoji here 🙌🏻 Lena Dunham’s Instagram is going viral for all the right reasons. The Girls actress posted side-by-side photos revealing that she’s gone from "sick in the head and tissues" to "happy, joyous, and free” and the number on the scale doesn’t matter.

“On the left: 138 pounds, complimented all day and propositioned by men and on the cover of a tabloid about diets that work. Also, sick in the tissue and in the head and subsisting only on small amounts of sugar, tons of caffeine and a purse pharmacy. On the right: 162 pounds, happy joyous & free, complimented only by people that matter for reasons that matter, subsisting on a steady flow of fun/healthy snacks and apps and entrees, strong from lifting dogs and spirits,” Dunham captioned the post, revealing that she’s on the mend since previously revealing her years-long battle with chronic pain stemming from endometriosis.

“Even this OG body positivity warrior sometimes looks at the left picture longingly, until I remember the impossible pain that brought me there and onto my proverbial knees,” Dunham concluded. “As I type I can feel my back fat rolling up under my shoulder blades. I lean in.”

The HBO star previously slammed the tabloid that included her in their “20 Slimdown Diet Tips” feature, listing instead 20 other factors leading to her weight loss, which ultimately lead to her undergoing a total hysterectomy in February.

In an op-ed for Vogue, Dunham previously shared why she underwent the total hysterectomy, revealing that she couldn’t handle the pain anymore and just wanted to be happy again.

“I may have felt choiceless before, but I know I have choices now,” she concluded in Vogue, revealing she still plans on having children via surrogacy or adoption. “Soon I’ll start exploring whether my ovaries, which remain someplace inside me in that vast cavern of organs and scar tissue, have eggs. Adoption is a thrilling truth I’ll pursue with all my might.”
