Keira Knightley Banned Her Daughter From Watching These Disney Films

Keira Knightly isn't messing around when it comes to teaching her 3-year-old daughter Edie Knightly Righton about her feminist values. During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the 33-year-old actress revealed she's actually banned her daughter from watching certain classic Disney films. Knightley doesn't believe these movies are teaching young girls the right message, so, little Edie isn't allowed to watch them.

So, which classic Disney films are banned from Knightley's household? Cinderella is a big no-no because "she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her. Don't! Rescue yourself. Obviously!" The Little Mermaid is also forbidden, though Knightley struggles with this one because she's attached to the movie. "And this is the one that I'm quite annoyed about because I really like the film, but Little Mermaid," she told Degeneres. "I mean, the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man. Hello! But the problem with The Little Mermaid is I love The Little Mermaid! That one's a little tricky—but I'm keeping to it."

Not all Disney films are banned, though. Knightley herself has starred in one of Disney's biggest franchises to date - The Pirates of the Carribean. Edie is still a bit young for those films, so, she gets to watch other classic films, such as Finding Dory (which stars Degeneres), Moana, and Frozen. According to Knightley, Finding Dory "is a big favorite in our house. Frozen is huge and Moana is totally fine. There are some good ones, but mainly Dory."

Do you agree with Knightley's parenting decision? Or do you think the older Disney movies are totally harmless?
