JAY-Z Will NOT Become An NFL Team Owner: Report

Jay-Z's partnership with the NFL is just that, a partnership.

Despite reports claiming the Roc Nation exec was set to become one of the NFL's newest owners — in addition to his recently signed deal to become the NFL's live music entertainment strategist — a source recently told CBS Sports that there are "no plans in place for the rap legend to become an NFL owner."

As fans know, Jay's deal with the NFL has been heavily criticized. Many celebrities and fans have voiced their disapproval of the surprise partnership given Jay's previous support of Colin Kaepernick — he was outspoken about the NFL's alleged blackballing of the former football player, he publicly supported Kaepernick's kneeling protests, and Jay even expressed his own dislike of the football league.

Earlier this week, Kaepernick's attorney Mark Geragos let it be known that he is not of a fan of Jay's NFL deal.

Geragos spoke candidly about his disapproval, telling ABC News on Monday (August 19), "This deal between Jay-Z and the NFL crosses the intellectual picket line."

In addition to calling the deal "cold-blooded," the attorney told the news outlet that Kaepernick wasn't made aware of the deal before it was signed. "I can confirm to you that the deal was already done prior to any conversation that [Kaepernick] had with Jay-Z and he certainly didn’t have any conversations with the NFL," Geragos explained.
