Antonio Brown Announces He Will No Longer Play in the NFL

New England Patriots v Miami Dolphins

The drama surrounding star wide receiver Antonio Brown never seems to end, but it seems the NFL won't have to worry about him much longer.

Less than a week after Brown was released by the New England Patriots following accusations of sexual assault, the wide receiver announced on Twitter that he would no longer be playing in the NFL.

"Will not be playing in the @NFL anymore these owners can cancel deals do whatever they want at anytime we will see if the @NFLPA hold them accountable sad they can just void guarantees anytime going on 40m 2 months will see if they pay up!" Brown tweeted on Sunday.

Brown also appeared to take aim at his fellow players, who have been accused of sexual assault, but remain in the NFL, including his former teammate, quaterback Ben Roethlisberger. Brown also took a shot at Patriots team owner Robert Kraft, for his arrest at a Florida spa for solicitng prostitution.

Brown's season in the NFL has been turbulent to say the least. The Patriots were the second team to release Brown after the Oakland Raiders let him go after he reportedly clashed with the team's coach and general manager. Brown had signed with the Raiders after leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Patriots released Brown Friday following allegations of rape and sexual assault that have come up in the past several weeks. Brown's former trainer, Britney Taylor filed a civil suit against the wide receiver accusing him of rape and sexual assault - which Brown has denied.

A second woman, an artist, said Brown approached her while naked wearing just a towel while she was working on a mural at his home.

In a statement Friday, the NFL said that, "Our office is presently investigating multiple allegations, some of which are the subject of pending litigation. We have as yet made no findings regarding these issues."
