How Meghan Markle Subtly Showed Support For Prince Harry's Lawsuit

The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Visit Johannesburg - Day Two

Prince Harry made a shocking announcement on Tuesday (October 1): he's taking legal action against Associated Newspapers, which publishes The Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday in the U.K. The 34-year-old royal detailed his decision to sue the organization in a lengthy, passionate statement. The Duke of Sussex fears "history repeating itself" as he watches Meghan Markle "falling victim to the same powerful forces" as his late-mother Princess Diana. "I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditized to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person," Prince Harry wrote, concluding his statement.

While Prince Harry refers to his wife multiple times throughout the statement, Meghan has not made an official statement yet on the matter. Some eagle-eyed royal reports and fans, however, believe the Duchess of Sussex made a subtle show of support for her husband. During one of her final appearances on her royal tour of South Africa, Meghan was spotted wearing an evil-eye bracelet. If you look closely at the photo below, you'll be able to see the small charm.

This particular charm, known as the evil eye, is mean to offer its wearer protection and safe-keeping. Meghan's charm is also light blue, which is thought to represent truth. In Prince Harry's letter, he condemned the "ruthless" British tabloid press for printing fabrications about his wife. "This specific press pack that has vilified her almost daily for the past nine months...[has] been able to create lie after lie at her expense simply because she has not been visible while on maternity leave," the Duke wrote in his statement. "There is a human cost to this relentless propaganda, specifically when it is knowingly false and malicious, and though we have continued to put on a brave face – as so many of you can relate to – I cannot begin to describe how painful it has been."

It's unlikely that Meghan will ever reveal if this was a supportive gesture, though even if it's not, the bracelet certainly fits the bill. Royal reporter Elizabeth Holmes certainly doesn't think the bracelet is a coincidence, either, sharing a photo of it on her Instagram Stories and writing: “This is the sartorial equivalent of laying bare one’s soul!!! The lack of colour draws your eye immediately to her face, to look at HER in the eyes.”
