Vanessa Bryant Calls Out Meek Mill Over 'Extremely Disrespectful' Kobe Line

Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, tore into Meek Mill for exploiting her husband’s death in the lyrics of a song.

The Philly-born rapper sparked a backlash from fans last week when an unreleased Lil Baby track leaked online saw Meek rapping a tasteless bar about the late NBA star's tragic passing.

"This b—h I'm f—kin' always tell me that she love but she ain't ever showed me / Yeah, and if I ever lack, I'm goin' out with my chopper, it by another Kobe,” the 33-year-old musician raps on the song, referring to the late legendary basketball player, who died in a helicopter crash in January 2020 with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

It didn’t take long before the verse made its way back to Vanessa, who wasted no time in checking the rapper over the “disrespectful” line about her husband.

"Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period,” Vanessa wrote via Instagram. “I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this. If you are a fan, fine, there's a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact."

Although Meek initially appeared to show no remorse in a since-deleted tweet (“I'm going back savage in this s—t ... f#%k ya feelings!”), his tune seemed to change hours later when he announced he’d “apologized to her” privately.

“I apologized to her in private earlier today not to the public,” he wrote. “Nothing I say on my page directed to a internet viral moment or the family of a grieving woman! If you care about someone grieving change the subject!”
