Junior Hosts 5th Annual "Kier's Hope 5K Run and Fun Walk" This Weekend

On Saturday, our very own Kier 'Junior' Spates is hosting his 5th annual Kier’s Hope 5K Run and Fun Walk in Dallas. The annual run and fun walk is dedicated to bringing awareness and hope to those battling Sickle Cell. Spates' experience with sickle cell as a child – unexplainable pain, misdiagnoses, countless emergency room visits and hospital stays is why he founded the Kier's Hope Foundation Inc. in 2018, to inspire and educate families affected by the disease and provide education, programs, services, and funding resources.

"Kier's Hope Foundation envisions a world where Sickle Cell Disease no longer exists, and we are working hard to raise awareness, resources, and funding to provide hope to those fighting this chronic disease," said Spates

The run generates 200-400 runners each year and they are working hard to double the number of runners and generate more awareness this weekend. Registration for the run and fun walk starts at 7:00 am on the Margaret Hunt-Hill Bridge/Ron Kirk Pedestrian Walkway in Dallas, and the race begins at 8:00 am.

All proceeds will go to the Kier's Hope Foundation and address the immediate needs of persons and families affected by sickle cell disease. The event is sponsored by Witherite Law Group, Emmaus Group, D. Herbs, KUR Research and will feature performances by the D-Down Crew, the official dance team of the Dallas Mavericks.
