Jury selection for Diddy’s federal trial began earlier this week, and things are already getting interesting. Several potential jurors were excused after raising concerns or revealing personal opinions that could affect their judgment.
One juror, identified as Juror 48, admitted that she had answered “yes” to one of the questions on the pre-trial questionnaire. When asked why, she said it was because of an alleged attempted rape in her past. She also wrote on the form that she believes Diddy has a lot of money and could “buy his way out of trouble.” When the judge asked what she meant by that, she simply replied, “Just what I wrote.” She was dismissed from the jury pool.
Another potential juror said he heard about Diddy’s alleged sex parties and the case on the Joe Rogan Podcast. He was also let go. A third juror was excused because he previously worked at a publishing company that released Al B. Sure’s memoir, which could be a conflict of interest.
Twelve final jurors will be selected to hear the case. Prosecutors accuse Diddy of using his wealth and fame to exploit women over more than 20 years. He faces five serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
