MSNBC to Rebrand as ‘MS NOW’ After Sale

MSNBC is undergoing a major transformation. The cable news network has officially announced its new name: “MS NOW.”

The rebrand follows MSNBC’s acquisition by Versant, a media company seeking to refresh the network’s identity. Versant’s CEO explained the new name stands for “My Source for News, Opinion and the World.”

The move signals a break from NBC Universal, which originally launched MSNBC in 1996 as a joint venture with Microsoft. Over time, MSNBC became known for progressive political commentary and 24-hour news coverage.

Versant says it plans to preserve the channel’s focus on breaking news and opinion journalism, while expanding global coverage and digital-first storytelling.

While some longtime viewers have mixed feelings about the name change, Versant insists the new identity represents a forward-looking approach to journalism in the streaming era.

No major anchor or programming changes have been announced—yet.
