Earthquake Talks Comedy, Love, and His Netflix Hit "Joke Telling Business"

There are some comedians whose names instantly bring a smile before they even touch the microphone. For Steve Harvey, one of those names is Earthquake. The comedy legend joined the Steve Harvey Morning Show to celebrate his latest Netflix special, Joke Telling Business, and to talk about the blessings that continue to shape his life.

Uncle Steve’s Comedy Mount Rushmore

During the conversation, Uncle Steve opened up about who sits on his personal Mount Rushmore of Comedy. While he acknowledges there is a public list and a private one, the names that make him laugh the hardest are clear.

“Cedric the Entertainer sits there. Jay Anthony Brown sits there. Earthquake sits there,” Steve shared. “And if I had to add one more, Ricky Smiley is in the room too. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life as I have with those brothers.”

For Steve, these comedians represent more than punchlines. They represent a brotherhood of talent, authenticity, and humor that has shaped the culture.

Comedy That Stays True to the Job

Earthquake’s new special Joke Telling Business quickly climbed into Netflix’s Top 10 within 24 hours of its release. The title itself is a statement about what comedy should be at its core.

“Comedy is about making people laugh,” Earthquake said. “These days too many people are trying to be shocking or give opinions on what people should or shouldn’t do. If you’re going to carry the banner of being a comedian, then be funny. You should have to renew your license, just like driving. Prove that you can still do it.”

For Earthquake, staying true to the craft means respecting the role of a comedian. “We are not rappers. We are the DNA of a clown. Our job is to bring laughter, not controversy. If you’re not funny, you’re not a comedian. Period.”

Love, Marriage, and Transformation

While the comedy spotlight is shining bright on Earthquake, his personal life is just as full. He recently got married, and he credits his wife for changing the course of his journey.

“I was just one good Black woman away from making it,” he said. “I found her. She believes in me, she loves me unconditionally, and that’s the most beautiful thing in the world. Nothing changes your life like being loved by the right woman.”

Steve applauded the sentiment, calling it one of the most profound truths he has ever heard on the show. Earthquake reflected further, saying, “People used to ask me when I was going to blow up. I told them I was one good woman away, and I was right. Everything is working out now because I found her.”

God’s Timing is Always Right

Earthquake’s story is proof that success and blessings do not always arrive on our timeline. They arrive on God’s.

“From no specials to specials everywhere, from being single to happily married, I am living proof that God is never too late,” Earthquake said.

With a thriving career, a loving marriage, and his name back in the spotlight where it belongs, Earthquake is showing the world what it means to trust the process, stay dedicated to the craft, and embrace the right blessings when they come.
