Woman Faces Charges After Keeping $20K Payroll Mistake

A payroll mistake has turned into a legal situation for one Arkansas woman.

According to reports, the woman was working as an aide at a senior living facility, earning $16.50 an hour. However, due to a payroll error, she was mistakenly paid $1,650 an hour for a 12-hour shift.

That mistake resulted in a payout of nearly $20,000.

When the employer realized the error, they asked for the money to be returned. The woman reportedly refused, telling authorities it was her “come up.”

Now, she is facing felony theft charges.

This situation has sparked debate online about accountability and ethics. Some people feel she should have returned the money immediately, while others question how companies handle payroll errors in the first place.

Legally, keeping money that was paid in error can still be considered theft, even if the mistake was not the employee’s fault.
