Could an NBA champion be headed to primetime television?
Actor Christopher Meloni, best known for portraying Detective Elliot Stabler on the long-running Law & Order: Special Victims Unit franchise, believes New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has what it takes to make the jump from the basketball court to the small screen.
The conversation started after Brunson revealed that one of his post-championship goals was to land a guest appearance on SVU. The Knicks point guard has been open about being a longtime fan of the show and joked that now that he has an NBA title, it may be time to check acting off his bucket list.
Meloni seems to agree.
The actor recently shared that Brunson has the charisma, confidence, and New York presence needed to fit right into the Law & Order universe. While no official casting announcements have been made, fans are already imagining what role the Knicks star could play.
With Brunson fresh off delivering a championship to New York and becoming one of the city's most beloved athletes, a cameo on one of television's most iconic New York-based shows doesn't seem too far-fetched.
Whether he's solving crimes alongside Detective Stabler or playing himself in a guest appearance, one thing is certain: New Yorkers would tune in.
