Teyana Taylor Helps Reimagine ESSENCE Festival 2026

This year's ESSENCE Festival of Culture was more than a music festival—it was a celebration of Black culture, creativity, and community.

According to ESSENCE, Teyana Taylor and her creative collective, The Aunties, served as the festival's Chief Curators, helping shape this year's programming with a focus on Black storytelling, feminine power, and intentional experiences.

The four-day celebration in New Orleans featured unforgettable performances from George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, Brandy, Monica, Babyface, T.I., Missy Elliott, Keke Palmer, Michelle Obama, Latto, Kehlani, Cardi B, and Doug E. Fresh, along with an emotional tribute honoring Aaliyah.

Festival attendees also experienced conversations centered on leadership, legacy, and empowerment. Bernice King and Ilyasah Shabazz reflected on carrying forward the legacies of their fathers, while Cory Booker, Jasmine Crockett, and members of the Congressional Black Caucus discussed Black political and economic power.

This year's festival blended entertainment with meaningful dialogue, reinforcing ESSENCE Fest's reputation as one of the nation's premier celebrations of Black culture.
