House Passes Bill to Make Daylight Saving Time Permanent

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide.

Known as the Sunshine Protection Act, the bill would eliminate the twice-yearly clock changes that require Americans to "spring forward" in March and "fall back" each November.

Supporters argue that permanent Daylight Saving Time would provide more evening daylight, reduce disruptions caused by changing clocks, and simplify daily routines for millions of Americans.

Before the measure can become law, it must still be approved by the U.S. Senate and signed by the president. If enacted, the change would not take effect until early 2027.

For now, Americans should still expect to change their clocks as usual unless Congress completes the legislative process.
