Howard University is working to resolve a major enrollment issue after hundreds of incoming students were mistakenly unenrolled.
University officials say 502 first-year students were removed from enrollment after missing the school's July 10 financial aid and payment deadline. Howard has since begun reviewing each case individually, and at least 46 students have already been re-enrolled as appeals and pending financial aid applications are processed.
With classes scheduled to begin on August 17, university leaders say they are committed to helping affected students return before the fall semester begins.
The situation has generated concern among students and families, many of whom rely on financial aid to attend the university. Howard says it will continue reviewing outstanding cases to ensure eligible students can begin their college experience on time.
