Whitney Houston Honored With Barbie Doll Inspired by Iconic 1987 Look

Whitney Houston’s legacy is being celebrated in a special way.

Mattel officially released the Barbie Signature Whitney Houston Doll on August 9, what would have been the legendary singer’s 63rd birthday. The collector’s doll was created in partnership with Whitney’s estate and pays tribute to one of her most unforgettable looks.

The doll recreates Whitney’s colorful style from the 1987 music video for “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).” She wears a lilac mini dress, colorful drop earrings, heels and vibrant ’80s-inspired makeup. The collector’s set also includes a microphone, microphone stand and Certificate of Authenticity.

The idea of creating a Whitney Houston Barbie actually dates back about 20 years. Pat Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law and executor of her estate, worked with Mattel to finally bring the tribute to life.

The doll has a suggested retail price of $60 and is available through Mattel and major retailers, including Amazon.
