One New Jersey woman thought her wedding ring was gone for good after making a mistake that will make you cringe.
Julie Angelicola was riding an NJ Transit train on her way to work when she went to the restroom and removed her wedding band while washing her hands. Distracted, she accidentally wrapped the ring in toilet paper, tossed it into the toilet and flushed.
Seconds later, she realized what she had done.
Angelicola immediately alerted NJ Transit employees, and crews went into recovery mode. Workers took the train out of service and brought in pipe fitters to search the toilet system.
After removing and opening the toilet tank, workers found the diamond ring sitting inside.
The ring was cleaned and disinfected before being returned to its very relieved owner.
Making the story even more special, the wedding band is an antique dating back to around 1905 and holds significant sentimental value for Angelicola and her husband.
NJ Transit later praised the employees who helped recover the ring, proving that sometimes going above and beyond at work means doing a job nobody expected to have on their schedule that day.
