In a recent interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Jennifer Hudson opened up about portraying Aretha Franklin in the Queen of Soul's upcoming biopic. While no date has been set, Hudson assured the audience that "it's happening."
Being a fan of Aretha's for many years, Jennifer admits, "I've always looked up to her," and that "it’s always been my dream to play Aretha."
Which comes to no surprise, J Hud sang at the late singer's funeral and captivated everyone with her very own rendition of "Amazing Grace."
The Grammy award winning singer goes on to say, "It blows my mind. I’ve always looked up to Aretha and to portray her – I cannot even speak about it because it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s a huge task."
A huge task indeed. Aretha's musical career has spanned over 70 years and the 37-year-old singer understands that she has some big shoes to fill.
“Think about it, like, it’s not just two, three decades of career. This woman had a lifetime of a career. That’s like 70 years. I can’t even begin to imagine how long it’s going to take to cover.”
