Carla Ferrell & Shirley Strawberry Sista Strut In Chicago With V-103

On Saturday (October 13th), our first ladies Carla Ferrell and Shirley Strawberry showed up and showed out in Chicago for the Cracker Barrel Sista Strut 3K Breast Cancer Walk with our family at V-103.

Ladies from all over the Chicago area joined Sista Strut to heighten awareness about breast cancer in women of color, as well as, provide information on countless community resources. Being that African American women have a 41% higher death rate than that of white women, on top of  being more likely to be diagnosed before the age of 40, it is a must that we continue to spread the word on how breast cancer is affecting our community.

Although it was Carla's birthday, she felt it was only right to strut in her mother, Pat Boatner's honor who list her batter to breast cancer. She took to her IG saying:

"Today is my 50th Birthday! I’m so #blessed to have my health, an amazing husband and beautiful daughter, wonderful friends and family! I’m here in Chicago strutting to fight to end #breastcancer in memory of mother Pat Boatner #breastcancerawareness #sistasista#birthdaygirl #livingmybestlife 🙏🏾💗🎀🎀🎀♎️🎉🎊🎈"

The ladies got together and wished Carla a very special Happy Birthday!

After strutting for such a great cause and celebrating a very special birthday, the ladies got down with a little "two-step" onstage. 💃

Wow!

The beautiful thing about Sista Strut is that it recognizes the strength of survivors, their family and friends, heightens awareness, promotes early detection and the search for a cure.

Take a listen as the ladies discuss the extraordinary weekend, the importance of voting and the crew touch on Kanye's meeting with Trump.
