'RHOA' Star Apollo Nida Released From Prison

Apollo Nida

Apollo Nida is a free man!

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star was recently released from prison after serving five years behind bars. According to E! News, Phaedra Park's ex-husband "has been moved to a Philadelphia halfway house," where he is expected to stay until the middle of October.

Shortly after news of his release, Apollo and his fiancee, Sherian Almfti, were spotted in Philly near the halfway house Apollo will be calling home for the next few months.

In 2014, Apollo pled guilty to bank fraud and identity theft. He was sentenced to eight years behind bars. "This defendant participated in a sweeping fraud scheme that exploited many segments of the financial system, including phony claims submitted to federal and state agencies, loans secured by vehicles and even basic identity theft associated with stolen checks," United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a statement at the time.

In March 2019, however, E! News reported that Apollo's sentence was reduced to 84 months (seven years) "with credit to be given by the Bureau of Prisons for all time served." He was then scheduled to be released in August 2020 and supposed to be put on probation for several years thereafter, according to The Blast.

As fans know, Apollo and his ex-wife Phaedra finalized their divorce while he was in prison in 2017. The former couple's divorce settlement came shortly after reports surfaced that Apollo proposed to a then-mystery woman by the name of Sherien while behind bars. The real estate agent later appeared on RHOA and Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta. Sherien also made sure to update fans on their relationship on her social media.

OK! Magazine was first to report the news of Apollo's release.
