Plumber Offers Free Repairs to Disabled Elderly People

James Anderson may seem like a hero to some, but in his eyes, he's just doing the humane thing.

The Lancaster, England plumber has gone viral for his generous free work within elderly people. James made the dramatic decision to shut down his private firm and create a non-profit company called Depher. Now, he dedicates his days to Disabled and Elderly Plumbing and Heating Emergency Response by helping his older generation customers.

Inspiration behind making the big switch in career paths came about when he was called in for a second opinion to evaluate a competing company's recommended repair of an older man's boiler in 2017. James came to the conclusion that the boiler wasn't actually dangerous and determined the company was looking to scam the man out of £5500.00.

"That was the incident that pushed me to turn Northern plumbing and heating into Depher cic, a company for you and your family. A company and Charity CIC that you can rely on 24 hours of the day."

Though being a non-profit has it's financial strains, the "shortfall" is worth the good he's doing for those who can easily be taken advantage of.

"A lot of people close to me ask: 'Why are you getting yourself in to debt? Why are you doing this?' To me, debt is debt… I would rather owe some money to somebody and another person be alive and happy and safe. It's an ethos that's in my heart and it will always stay there."
