Daniel Kaluuya Revealed He Wasn't Invited To 'Get Out' Premiere

Daniel Kaluuya, the Oscar-nominated star of Get Out, revealed on The Graham Norton Show that he didn’t get an invitation to the world premiere of the movie.

The 2017 horror/thriller directed by Jordan Peele followed a “young African-American (who) visits his white girlfriend's parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point,” the synopsis reads.

Now, marking the four-year anniversary of its release, Kaluuya revealed in the interview that despite clearing his schedule, he didn’t get invited when Get Out premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, Rolling Out reported Wednesday (February 24).

Because he didn’t get invited, Kaluuya saw the film in an Atlanta theater, he explained in a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show.

“On the Sundance world premiere, I was in Atlanta because I was shooting [Black] Panther. I was chilling, I cleared my schedule,” Kaluuya explained. “I was like, ‘I really wanna do it.’ And then just didn’t get the invite. I wasn’t invited.”

Though he didn’t get an invite to its premiere, Get Out launched Kaluuya into the success of his career today. Rolling Out noted that Get Out raked in more than $255.5 million, significantly more than its $4.5 million budget.
