US athlete CJ Nickolas, a world silver medalist in taekwondo, is set to represent the country in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 22-year-old from Brentwood, California, qualified early for the games due to his world ranking, currently standing at number two in the 80kg division.

Nickolas' journey in taekwondo began at the age of three, inspired by his love for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. Despite dabbling in other sports like basketball and track during high school, he always returned to taekwondo. His dedication to the sport has taken him around the world, experiencing both triumphs and failures. Nickolas told Fox 21 news, "Whenever someone asked me what I wanted to do in this sport, I always said I want to go to the Olympics." After failing to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, he is now ranked second in the world and has a chance to bring home a medal from Paris.

Nickolas is also known for his efforts to raise awareness about taekwondo, documenting his Olympic journey and sharing his experiences with fans. The taekwondo events at the Paris Olympics are set to start on August 7.
