Max B is finally closer to freedom than ever before.

On Monday, September 15, the veteran New York rapper, born Charley Wingate, took to Instagram and shared a letter the New Jersey State Parole Board sent him last month. In it, Carla M. Shabazz, the Director of the Division of Release, confirmed that the state of New York had accepted his parole plan, which will begin upon his release in a couple of months. In his caption, Max B confirmed that he will be released from Northern State Prison on November 9, a day earlier than expected.

“The Wave touches down November 9. The countdown begins," he wrote.

The 46-year-old artist was originally sentenced to 75 years in prison after he was convicted of murder and armed robbery. After his trial in 2009, both Max and his co-defendant, Kelvin Leerdam, were convicted on 9 of 11 counts, including felony murder. In 2016, a state Superior Court judge vacated the rapper's conviction due to a conflict of interest involving one of the rapper's former defense attorneys. The opportunity allowed Max B to plead guilty to one count of aggravated manslaughter. Afterward, the judge sentenced him to 20 years with time served, which cleared the way for his release.

Upon his release, Max B will have to serve five years of probation. He's has been hyping up his release among close friends like French Montana, Jadakiss, Wiz Khalifa, and others on social media. He recently got a visit from rapper Tru Life, and spoke with Young Thug on the phone after the Atlanta rapper was released from jail. The Wave God has also been teasing the possibility of new music following his release.
