The grand opening of Marathon Burger in Long Beach was interrupted by gunfire that claimed the life of one man and injured others.

Samiel "Blacc Sam" Asghedom, Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, YG, and other celebrities arrived at the all-new Marathon Burger near Third Street and Pine Avenue on Sunday afternoon, March 1. Uncle Snoop helped cut the ribbon while Blacc Sam was seen praising Wonder for coming to the restaurant. Everything was going well until shots were fired outside. The Long Beach Police Department responded to a shooting near the restaurant that left one person dead and two others injured.

"I saw people running. When you see a mass of people running, you know something's going on, and they ran in one direction, and then the other direction, then somebody said that they heard gunshots," said Eric VanDyke, who's a relative of Nipsey Hussle. "It was disappointing because I know that Nip, Black Sam wanted this to be a happy occasion, so it's unfortunate that something happened that would bring more attention to the negative elements as opposed to the positive elements."

According to ABC7, gunfire broke out around 3:30 p.m. just outside the perimeter that was blocked off for the grand opening. Three men were shot during the incident and taken to a nearby hospital. One of the men didn't make it, but the other two remain in stable condition.

Although the event ended in gunfire, the grand opening of Marathon Burger in Long Beach was successful. Check out more scenes from the event below.
