Monaleo is opening up about what caused her to have emergency surgery while in the middle of her headlining tour.
In an X post she shared on Tuesday, March 3, the Houston rapper apologized for calling her shows in Memphis and New Orleans. She continued to explain exactly what happened leading up to her medical emergency.
"Out of nowhere got a sharp pain in my lower abdomen," she said. "Took some pain meds 2 hours went by the pain got worse. I went to the ER and could hardly make it through the ultrasound without throwing up . Worst pain ever fr.
"I had an inflamed cyst the size of a softball that had twisted and cut off blood flow and caused bleeding in my abdomen," she added. "Had to have emergency surgery and unfortunately lost an ovary and fallopian tube in the process."
Monaleo said she's still recovering in the hospital in Memphis, as of Tuesday. As far as the tour is concerned, she said they are currently processing refunds and will update fans as soon as she knows the next steps. Monaleo also offered advice to her fans who might not like the hospital.
"I’m not sure how long this healing process will take," she said. "I do want to say this though : listen to your body when things are off . As a person who hates ER’s and never wants to go this could’ve been a lot worse."
Monaleo began her tour last month to support her recent album, Who Did The Body. The 24-year-old artist has traveled to multiple major cities across the U.S. She began in Milwaukee and continued to other locations like Boston, Philadelphia, Orlando and more.
We hope Monaleo makes a speedy recovery!
