NLE Choppa is getting mixed reactions after revealing why he doesn't wear seatbelts when he drives.
In a video that went viral on Thursday, March 12, the Memphis native records himself while driving without a seatbelt on. In the clip, NLE explains how he decides when to wear a safety belt in the car. He said that the only time he ever wears a seatbelt while a car is in motion is when he doesn't trust the person who's driving.
"If you ever catch a n***a wearing a seatbelt, nine times out of ten he ain't never been in no s**t,” NLE says into the camera.
"If you catch me wearing a seatbelt, I'm really riding with somebody I feel cannot drive," he continues. "It's the only time I put on a seatbelt... but real n***a know you gotta be able to bounce out and move. [The seatbelt] will take time away."
Of course, there were plenty of social media users who disagreed with NLE's perspective. Most condemned him for making such claims as an artist who influences young people. Others showed examples of how seatbelts saved their lives, especially in deadly car crashes.
Surprisingly enough, this is not the first time NLE Choppa has complained about wearing seatbelts. The last time he brought up the subject was in 2021 when he asked why he had to wear a seatbelt on a plane.
"Why TF we gotta wear seatbelts on a flight wtf we gone run into a cloud," he wrote at the time.
NLE faced similar scrutiny after he shared this post. People reminded him that turbulence is a thing and advised him to wear his seatbelt to avoid getting hurt during intense turbulence.
