Brandy is speaking out after her brother Ray J slammed Cam'ron, Shyne and Ma$e for talking about her during their recent interview.

In a rare statement she shared on Wednesday, March 18, the "Full Moon" singer clarified that she merely had a "platonic friendship" with Shyne and alleged that the stories discussed on It Is What It Is have been "mischaracterized as ‘we dated.’"

"Unequivocally, we did not!" she wrote. "I’m not sure why an untrue narrative about a scope of what was a friendship more than 20-years ago is being reshaped during his current media interviews."

"People telling their version of my story is why I am releasing my upcoming memoir 'PHASES,'" she continued. "It’s time to tell my truth and debunk many of the misnomers that people think they know about my life."

During the interview, Cam brought up a time when Shyne and Ma$e allegedly dated Brandy at the same time. Shyne claimed that he didn't know the Harlem rapper was involved with Brandy when he pursued her. It wasn't the first time he spoke about their alleged relationship, either. Shyne previously mentioned it in a Breakfast Club interview about his 2024 documentary, The Honorable Shyne. Following Shyne's appearance with Cam and Ma$e, Ray J snapped on all three and made vulgar threats against them. Brandy also addressed her brother's reaction and emphasized that he does not speak for her.

"While I love my brother Ray J, I don’t condone or support the messages he’s shared on social media and have not asked him to defend me in any form," she said.

Prior to Brandy's statement, Shyne also addressed Ray J's threats in his own Instagram post. In it, he shared a photo of himself with Ray and Brandy with "I Hit It First" in the background.

"Let the record reflect I DID NOT 'HIT IT FIRST'……..Most respectfully," he wrote.
