Claressa Shields says she and her boyfriend, Papoose, want to start a family next year.
The Olympic boxer revealed the news on Monday, March 23, during her appearance on Way Up With Angela Yee. After celebrating her 31st birthday, Shields reflected on her 10 years as an undisputed heavyweight championship fighter. She discussed what went down at the weigh-in for her matchup against rival Franchon Crews-Dezurn, her affiliation with the Zeus network, her viral spat with 50 Cent, and how she made her new song "Faithful." Midway through the discussion, Shields said she plans to release more content once she and Pap have a baby in 2027.
"Next year will be a whole different level of content because me and Pap plan on having our first child together," Shields said.
Claressa Shields made the song in honor of Papoose for his birthday. She said she sent the track to singer Ari Lennox, who encouraged her to put it out and sent her some supportive emojis. Shields eventually dropped the song on her birthday last week. "Faithful" will appear on Shield's forthcoming EP, along with other tracks like "Killa" and "Bad Guy" with her nephew Bud God Dee Baby.
The championship boxer and the seasoned rapper have been going strong for over two years. The couple went public in 2024 after keeping their relationship on the low amid the chaotic end of Papoose's marriage to Remy Ma. Pap recently filed for divorce from Remy last May and cited irreconcilable differences. The divorce hasn't been finalized, but the two have already moved on from their 15+ year relationship.
