Wireless Fest has decided to cancel its upcoming event after the government barred Ye from entering the U.K.

On Tuesday morning, April 7, the BBC confirmed that the government denied Ye's travel visa amid the drama surrounding his headlining performance at the three-day music festival. The Home Office told the outlet that it received the rapper's application to travel to London yesterday and swiftly turned him away on the basis that his presence "would not be conducive to the public good." Shortly after the news broke about the government's decision, Wireless Fest announced it had been forced to cancel its event.

"As a result of the Home Office banning YE from entering the United Kingdom, Wireless Festival has been forced to cancel," a statement on the festival's Instagram page said. "All ticket holders will receive an automatic full refund."

Ye's past antisemitic outbursts and music may have been forgiven and forgotten by fans in the U.S., but the U.K. isn't willing to give him a second chance. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer recently denounced the festival's decision to book Ye as the main headliner, and the brands involved with the event began to pull their support.

Melvin Benn, the managing director of Wireless Fest's parent company Festival Republic, stood by his decision to allow Ye to perform and encouraged others to find the strength to forgive Ye. The Chicago rapper also spoke out and offered to meet with members of the Jewish community before the concert. The Board of Deputies of British Jews said they're interested in meeting with the rapper, but only if he pulls out of his performances.

"The Jewish community will want to see a genuine remorse and change before believing that the appropriate place to test this sincerity is on the main stage at the Wireless Festival," said the Board's president, Phil Rosenberg. "It has been less than a year since Kanye West released a song entitled Heil Hitler, the culmination of three years of appalling antisemitism. He also made a number of deeply offensive comments about the black community, saying that the 400-year experience of slavery was 'like a choice'. We are willing to meet Kanye West as part of his journey of healing, but only after he agrees not to play the Wireless Festival this year."

As of this report, Ye has not publicly reacted to the news.
