Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers is reportedly departing from the franchise after three seasons, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Shams Charania on Sunday (April 12).

Rivers, 64, who had initially joined the Bucks as an informal consultant to then-first-year head coach Adrian Griffin in December 2023, eventually took over full-time in January 2024 and went 97-102 in three seasons, which included a 32-50 record to conclude the 2025-26 season.

"BREAKING: Doc Rivers is departing as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN. After a 32-50 season, the Bucks will embark on their third coaching search in the last three years," Charania wrote on his X account. "A summer of change begins for the Bucks as Rivers exits at 97-103 across three seasons in Milwaukee -- two first-round exits and missing the playoffs and play-in this year. The Bucks will pay out Rivers on his eight-figure salary for the final year on his deal in 2026-27."

Rivers is a former NBA point guard and has coached five NBA teams, most notably leading the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship in 2008. The 64-year-old has a career head coaching record of 1,194-865, with a .580 winning percentage in 25 seasons, as well as a 114-112 record with a .504 winning percentage in the playoffs.
