Missouri Tigers running back Ahmad Hardy, a standout first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) player last season, is in stable condition after being shot at a concert in Mississippi early Sunday morning. The university confirmed Hardy's status on Monday, stating that he underwent surgery and is now alert and moving around.

According to a statement from Missouri Athletics, "Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans. We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support." The team has not yet provided a timeline for Hardy's return to football activities, but there is optimism that he will play again.

Hardy, a Mississippi native, transferred to Missouri ahead of the 2025 season. Last year, he led the SEC with 1,649 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, earning All-SEC and All-American honors. He was also named a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, which recognizes the nation's top running back.

The school said it will share more updates as they become available. For now, Hardy's recovery and future in football remain uncertain, but sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel there is hope for his return. No additional information about the incident or possible suspects has been released.
