Doja Cat Hints At Potential Deluxe Edition Of 'Vie': 'Dreamlike & Sensuous'

Doja Cat is still riding the '80s synth wave of her Vie era.

In a new interview with ELLE, the "Paint the Town Red" musician explained that she has some songs that didn't make the cut for the original version of her 2025 album Vie that could be shared in a possible new deluxe edition of the record or a future EP. While describing the sound of the project, she also compared the idea to her 2021 record Planet Her while explaining how it fits in the "realm" of her other music.

"It almost feels like Planet Her, but it's in the Eighties and it's not in the Eighties," she said. "Electronic and synthy and wavy and dreamlike and sensuous and textural. Lots of thin noises with metallic and watery, bubbly droplets. Tongue in cheek, as always, and sexual. I love to write in that realm."

Doja released Vie, her fifth studio album, in September 2025, an '80s-inspired record about love that she described as "sexy" and "romantic" to iHeartRadio ahead of its release. She also explained why the album title, the French word for life, felt fitting for the project.

"Without love there is no life," she said. "You have to love someone or something to make another someone. You can't live your life without loving it."
