Peabo Bryson, the voice behind Oscar-winning Disney songs "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World," has died at the age of 75 following a stroke.

"We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends and colleagues around the world," the musician's family said in a statement to PEOPLE. "While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved and how many lives were touched by his voice and his generous spirit. His legacy and music will love on for generations to come."

Per the outlet, the singer died on Tuesday (June 2) surrounded by his family, days after suffering a stroke.

The R&B musician won a Grammy in both 1992 and 1993, for his performances of "Beauty and the Beast" and "A Whole New World," respectively. Both Disney theme songs ultimately won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.

Last August, Bryson announced his "Golden Touch" tour, which marked his 50-year music career.
