An arrest warrant has been issued for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk after a video surfaced last December allegedly showing him speeding near Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office charged Aiyuk with misdemeanor exhibition of speed following the online posting of a video in which he appears to drive a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing at speeds far above the posted 40 mph limit. The video, shared on Aiyuk’s YouTube channel, shows the speedometer reaching as high as 111.
Aiyuk, age 28, apologized several days after posting the video, writing on social media, "Sorry ya'll, my car content won't come with speeding anymore. Was praying with my son tonight and wouldn't want anybody else to miss out on an opportunity to do the same with their loved ones! My apologies."
The Santa Clara Police Department investigated the case and forwarded it to prosecutors in mid-January, with the charge formally filed against Aiyuk on January 30. Aiyuk, who missed the entire 2025 season due to a serious knee injury, remains on the 49ers roster but has been placed on the reserve/left squad list after reportedly losing contact with the team last summer.
With the June 1 NFL transaction date now passed, the 49ers can trade or release Aiyuk with the remaining financial obligations spread over two years. However, attempts to trade him have so far been unsuccessful. The case against Aiyuk will move forward in Santa Clara County, and the outcome may impact his future in professional football.
