A 23-year-old woman from Florida, Lindsey Brooke Isaacs, spent 13 days in jail after being wrongfully arrested for a deadly crash on Interstate 4, based largely on data from a Flock ai-assisted license plate camera. The incident, which took place after a high-speed collision on Saturday (October 4, 2025), killed three people and led the Florida Highway Patrol to focus on Isaacs’ black Dodge Durango after a camera alert flagged her vehicle near the scene.

Police impounded Isaacs’ SUV, claiming it was damaged, and arrested her six months later while she was trying to retrieve her car. Despite Isaacs providing an alibi and a receipt for her whereabouts, she faced eight felony charges, including three counts of vehicular homicide, and was held without bond before being released on $250,000 bail.

Further investigation revealed major errors. Isaacs’ vehicle showed no crash damage, and a time-and-distance analysis proved she could not have been at the crash site when the accident occurred. Her attorney said, "There was absolutely no damage to Lindsay Isaacs' vehicle... As soon as we did the vehicle inspection in this case, we knew she was innocent."

The real suspect emerged after new evidence pointed to Alisa Lee Montalvo, whose maroon Dodge Durango matched witness descriptions and had damage consistent with the crash. Montalvo was later arrested and now faces nine felony charges, but has not been convicted.

Isaacs is now suing the Florida Highway Patrol and the troopers involved, alleging they falsely claimed her vehicle had crash-related damage. Her lawsuit has sparked debate about the reliability and risks of using Flock’s AI-powered cameras in criminal investigations.

The Florida Highway Patrol says its investigation is ongoing. Isaacs, meanwhile, is seeking therapy and hopes her ordeal raises awareness about the consequences of over-relying on automated surveillance tools in policing.
