The Real Issue with Bill O’Reilly

There is a level of pride we feel after watching the video of Maxine Waters response to Bill O’Reilly absolutely ridiculous comments about her hair during her comments on the house floor.

“I didn’t hear a word she said. I was looking  at the James Brown wig.” - Bill O’Reilly

Now although he did hear everything she said and expressed that she was a very passionate and respectable individual that he respected, he still made the focus of the segment about her hair. Right wing media outlets will focus on the small point he made after the insult, but the problem is that he never addressed her statement directly and focused on the distasteful joke about her hair. The shinning glory is that Co-host Ainsley Earhardt came to Maxine’s defense in spite of the laughter from the other hosts.

“You can’t go after a woman’s looks. I think she’s very attractive!” - Ainsley Earhardt

and of course O’Reilly had another follow up half-hearted, misogynistic, unimpressively bigoted response:

“I didn’t say she wasn’t attractive. I love James Brown. But it’s the same hair James Brown, the ‘Godfather of Soul’ had”. - Bill O'Reilly

I hope you all, whether conservative or liberal, see the real issue.

The issue of not addressing the issue.

People take stands on pulpits and pedestals to speak about the mundane but never address the real topics. Maxine Waters was speaking about an issue and Bill O’Reilly decided to use his platform to dismiss her words (although he heard every word) and talk about her hair and relate it to a male entertainer, which is very demeaning in itself.

Maxine we applaud you for addressing this obvious attempt to disrespect, dismiss and belittle and taking a stand for the issues you were addressing. Bill O’Reilly has no weight in the matter and is grossly mis-informed about the matters at hand. What we all have to understand as a people in whole is that we have got to address the issues and stop dismissing one another. That is part of the issue, no one is listening and everyone thinks what they believe is the be all and end all.

Let’s stop that and work together, solve these problems together, and move on together.
