The Strawberry Letter - He Saw Right Through My Lies

Dear Steve and Shirley,

I'm 41 years old, and I've been married for 13 years. Fifteen years ago, I met my husband because he was friends with my then-boyfriend. My boyfriend broke up with me abruptly, telling me that he just needed some space. It turned out he was having a baby with the girl next door.

The friend I eventually married reached out to me to see if I was okay. I wasn't. He came by to check on me, and we talked and drank, and drank and talked. He was a perfect gentleman for about four months and even suggested that I start going out to meet other guys, so I felt like it wasn’t his intention to hook up with me. But after a year of being friendly, he asked me out to dinner, and I've been with him ever since. He talked to my ex, so there were no hard feelings, and then we got married. All was forgiven, but he and my ex stopped being friends.

Fast forward to last month, and my ex called me to see if I wanted to go to a rap concert because he knows how much I love ratchet music. He gave me the tickets because he had COVID. I went to get the tickets he left in his mailbox. My husband was excited about going after I told him I won the tickets on the radio and picked them up at the last minute because I had forgotten about them. We sat in a section with a bunch of his old friends, and I told him it was a coincidence. One of the friends asked me how my ex was doing, and I said I hadn't heard from him. The guy looked at me, then at my husband, who was staring at both of us.

When we got in the car, my husband asked where the tickets really came from. I can't let him know the truth.

Is it bound to come out? What do I do now?
