Survey Reveals the Limit on How Long Holiday Guests Should Stay

The holidays are a time for family, food, and togetherness—but how long is too long when guests come to stay? According to a new survey, the average host says six days is the point where visitors start to overstay their welcome.

Millions of Americans travel during the holidays to spend time with loved ones, often choosing to stay with family rather than book a hotel. While most hosts enjoy the company, that patience tends to fade after nearly a week of shared bathrooms, crowded kitchens, and late-night noise.

The study found exceptions, though. Parents and children get a little more grace, with most respondents saying they’re comfortable hosting close family for up to ten days. However, after that point, even the warmest hosts admit they start longing for privacy.

So, how long before your guests wear out their welcome? Do you drop hints, set a clear departure date, or just let it ride? Hosting can be fun, but as this survey shows, everyone has their limit.
