Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released a set of old emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate that reference former President Donald Trump. The documents, more than 23,000 in total, were turned over by Epstein’s estate and include messages that Democrats say shed new light on Epstein’s connections.
One email claims that Trump “knew about the girls,” and another alleges he “spent hours at my house” with a redacted victim. Republicans on the committee quickly fired back, accusing Democrats of cherry-picking the most sensational emails to score political points and push headlines.
Among the documents is a 2011 email Epstein sent to Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in Epstein’s trafficking network. The email references a young woman whose identity was redacted.
The White House responded sharply, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt saying the claims represent a “fake narrative.” She stated that the redacted woman was the late Virginia Giuffre, who once worked at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago but never accused the former president of wrongdoing.
The release has ignited another round of political battles, with both parties disputing what the emails do or do not prove.
