Howard University is bringing hip hop into the classroom in a major way.
A new course titled The Cardi B: Am I The Drama? The Art, Production, Marketing, and Cultural Impact of Hip-Hop will be offered this fall. The class will be taught by Professor Jasmine Young and will focus on the business and cultural influence of Cardi B.
Students will study everything from Cardi B’s rise to fame to the strategy behind her music releases, branding, and marketing. The course will also explore how she became a global figure in entertainment.
Professor Young described Cardi B as a phenomenon and said the class will break down what makes her so impactful in today’s music industry.
The course will be limited to just 24 students, making it highly competitive.
This is another example of how universities are recognizing hip hop as both an art form and a business model. It also highlights how artists like Cardi B are shaping culture beyond music.
For students interested in entertainment, marketing, or media, this class offers a unique opportunity to learn from a real world success story.
