If you had to describe 2026 so far in one word, what would it be?
According to a new nationwide survey of 2,000 adults, the most common answer is clear: stressful. About 35 percent of respondents chose that word to describe how the year has been going so far.
That answer is not too surprising. Between rising costs, global headlines, work pressure, and everyday responsibilities, many people say they feel overwhelmed.
The survey also found that when people face challenges, stress often comes from multiple directions at once. Financial concerns, job security, health, and relationships all play a role in how people are feeling this year.
What is interesting is how people are responding to that stress. Some are trying to slow down and focus on self care, while others are pushing through and hoping things improve.
This conversation is a reminder that a lot of people are carrying more than we can see. Everyone’s situation is different, but the shared feeling of stress seems to be a common thread.
So the question is, what word would you choose to describe your 2026 so far?
