Tyla is speaking out after a viral video appeared to show her standing awkwardly next to Rihanna at the Met Gala.
In a video she shared on Wednesday, May 6, the "Chanel" singer explained the misconceptions behind the clip that's sparking rumors about tension between the two internationally known singers. Tyla began by sharing that she had met Rihanna before during an event last year. She said it was all good when they met the first time.
"Everyone knows I love Rih," Tyla said into the camera. "So I met her last year and she was cool, but I think she was occupied."
Tyla explained that she and Rihanna spoke for a bit, but the conversation ended quickly after A$AP Rocky called her over. She said she felt awkward and didn't know how to say hi. Tyla referred to the moment in the video and said she was standing there waiting for her car when she saw Rihanna standing nearby. The singer said Rih looked busy, so she didn't approach her.
The video in question shows Tyla leaning against the wall, looking awkward as Riri did an interview just feet away from her. It's also the same clip that showed Riri looking annoyed as A$AP Rocky spoke to a woman behind her. Fans were convinced the tense moment sparked an emotional conversation in their Sprinter van after the Met Gala. The video of the couple talking led fans to believe that there was trouble in paradise. However, TMZ confirmed that the couple was just tired and was venting about their long day.
