Palm Beach International Airport has officially been renamed the President Donald J. Trump International Airport, marking the first time in U.S. history that an airport has been named after a sitting president. The change took effect July 9th, following a state bill signed into law by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
New signage is currently being rolled out across the terminal and on nearby highways, including Interstate 95, as officials work through what they're calling a phased rebrand. The airport's FAA identifier has already switched from PBI to DJT, though the passenger-facing IATA code won't officially change until August 18th, so travelers booking flights can still search under the old PBI code for now.
The full rebrand is estimated to cost around $5.5 million, covering new signage, branding, and updated technology systems throughout the airport. The State of Florida has already put $2.75 million toward the project, with the remaining costs coming from the airport's own operating and capital improvement budgets.
Airport officials say operations, parking, TSA screening, and flight schedules will not be affected by the change. The renaming comes as the Trump family frequently uses the airport, located just miles from Mar-a-Lago.
