A court in Moscow has sentenced a 39-year-old Russian woman to five years in a women's penal colony after she admitted to a violent assault on her husband.
According to court proceedings, the woman confessed she attacked her husband after discovering what she believed were sexually explicit text messages on his phone. Prosecutors said she intentionally planned the assault and later admitted she had sharpened her teeth beforehand.
Medical testimony presented during the trial described the severity of the injuries, and surgeons were able to perform emergency treatment after the victim was transported to a hospital.
The husband denied being unfaithful and has since filed for divorce.
The case has drawn widespread attention because of its unusual and disturbing nature, while also highlighting the serious consequences of domestic violence regardless of the gender of those involved.
