Southern University's Human Jukebox is bringing HBCU culture, marching-band excellence and plenty of style to Gap's latest denim campaign.
The legendary Baton Rouge-based marching band stars in Gap's "Denim on My Own" campaign, performing its own arrangement of Robyn's hit song "Dancing on My Own." The students are dressed in dark denim, classic white T-shirts and custom Gap jackets featuring Southern University and Human Jukebox branding.
According to Human Jukebox band director Kedrick D. Taylor, Gap initially approached the band about appearing alongside a major artist. When those plans changed, the company decided to make the Human Jukebox the star of its own campaign and filmed the commercial right on Southern University's campus.
Gap even created customized denim pieces for band members featuring Southern's signature logos and colors.
The partnership arrives just in time for football and homecoming season, when HBCU marching bands become some of the biggest attractions on campus.
For the Human Jukebox, the campaign is another major moment for a band already known nationwide for its precision, powerful sound and unmistakable Southern University style.
