Ye Returned Home for Sold-Out Chicago Concert

Ye made a major return to his hometown of Chicago, giving fans a homecoming performance nearly a decade in the making.

The rapper formerly known as Kanye West took over Soldier Field for the first of two shows, performing from the top of a massive globe-inspired stage in front of a sold-out crowd of approximately 70,000 fans.

Ye opened the night by performing his hometown anthem “Homecoming” multiple times before going through a catalog of hits including “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” “Heartless,” “Jesus Walks,” “Flashing Lights” and “All of the Lights.”

He also brought out several surprise guests.

Big Sean joined Ye for “Clique,” marking another public sign that their past differences are behind them. 2 Chainz came out for “Mercy” and “Birthday Song,” while Future performed “Keep It Burnin” and “F**k Up Some Commas.”

Chicago’s own Twista also received a huge hometown welcome when he joined Ye for “Overnight Celebrity” and “Slow Jamz.”

The Chicago concerts are part of Ye’s ongoing tour, with additional shows planned in cities including Houston, Dallas and Phoenix.

After years of controversy and limited performances in his hometown, Ye’s Chicago return reminded fans just how deep his musical catalog runs.
