Tyler Perry is preparing for a major lifestyle change in 2027.
During an appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle, the filmmaker and media mogul revealed that he plans to move to Puerto Rico with his 11-year-old son, Aman, early next year.
Perry said he is also ready to seriously scale back his famously busy work schedule.
“I’m pulling back a whole lot from work,” he shared while explaining that getting older has changed the way he thinks about his time.
A major reason for the decision is his son.
Perry has spoken openly about experiencing abuse and trauma during his childhood. Now, he says being fully present for Aman gives him an opportunity to create a different childhood experience for his son while continuing to heal from his own past.
Perry also addressed his thoughts on marriage and made it clear that walking down the aisle is not part of his future plans. At this point in his life, he simply does not believe marriage would be the right choice for him.
The move does not mean Tyler Perry Studios is going anywhere. No plans have been announced to close his massive 300-acre studio complex in Atlanta, which remains a major part of his entertainment business.
