Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is continuing to give back to students in the city he calls home.
Hurts recently surprised students at Northeast High School with a $600,000 donation through his foundation to help install a new air-conditioning system in the school’s auditorium.
Students welcomed the Eagles star with a huge pep rally as he announced the gift.
“I’ve been in your guys’ shoes,” Hurts told the students. “I know the importance of having the support and having the backing to do and achieve whatever dreams you have.”
The project is especially important because many Philadelphia schools continue to struggle with outdated buildings and inadequate cooling systems. Northeast High’s auditorium can become extremely hot during warmer months, making it difficult to comfortably hold school events and activities.
The new system is expected to be completed in time for the 2027-28 school year.
This is not Hurts’ first time helping Philadelphia schools stay cool. He previously donated $200,000 to purchase more than 300 air-conditioning units for 10 schools across the district.
That means Hurts has now committed approximately $800,000 toward improving cooling conditions for Philadelphia students.
Jalen continues to show that making an impact off the field can be just as important as what happens on Sunday.
