Too $hort is walking back comments he made about attending Sean “Diddy” Combs’ welcome home party after receiving heavy backlash online.
The Bay Area rap legend previously said he planned to attend a celebration when Diddy is eventually released from federal prison.
After criticism began pouring in, Too $hort posted an apology on Instagram and admitted that his comments were insensitive.
He said he was aware of the video showing Diddy assaulting Cassie Ventura but did not fully understand the number and extent of other abuse allegations surrounding the music mogul when he made his original comments.
Too $hort made it clear that he does not support emotional, physical or sexual abuse.
He also clarified that when he mentioned attending a Diddy party, he was referring to the traditional celebrity gatherings he had attended in the past and not any of the sexual encounters described during Diddy’s legal proceedings.
Too $hort apologized to anyone he offended, including the women in his own family.
His comments come as other longtime associates of Diddy have faced questions about how they view their personal and professional relationships with him. Usher also recently received attention after saying he still views Diddy as someone who played a mentorship role early in his career.
